Gibeon Meteorite
First discovered within the year 1836 by J.E Alexander when he took samples of the meteorite which were analysed in London and confirmed to be from a meteorite. The Gibeon meteorite was located in Namibia, its strewn field being one of, if not the largest in the world for a meteorite.
The mass of meteorite found approximates to 24-tonnes of material, the meteorite itself containing a higher percentage of nickel within its composition than other meteorites. The iron-nickel alloy containing cobalt and phosphorus within its chemical composition. |
